Launching the Australia Post website into a new generation of digital experience — transforming a complex, service-heavy ecosystem into a cohesive, scalable, and future-ready platform.
My piece in the puzzle.
I joined the team in the latter half of the project, initially providing leadership consulting before focusing on the navigation, information architecture (IA), and the structure of utility widgets. I also worked across site components that required third-party input and/or internal UX collaboration. I'm so cool.
The IA and Navigation
The general approach was to structure the navigation in a more traditional, yet intuitive way, with the goal of ensuring that all content was accessible within two clicks or touches. We organised the content across seven levels, then structured the navigation accordingly: the primary navigation covered levels 0–3, while the secondary navigation covered levels 4–6.
The widgets
The utility widgets were designed as reusable, repeating components that could be selected and placed via the CMS across different content pages and articles. This provided flexibility in how the widgets could be used, while maintaining consistency across the broader site experience.
