Buffalo Wild Wings Trivia delivers an interactive trivia experience for guests playing at the bar. Trivia questions cover a wide range of categories, including sports, music, entertainment, current events, and more. Guests must check in through the Buffalo Wild Wings app to be eligible for prizes.
Strategy
Buffalo Wild Wings is a restaurant chain with over 1,300 locations across all 50 U.S. states. The company is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. They're a digitally savvy organisation that tendered for a customer engagement platform — which we (FanHb) won. We began planning a series of products within the ecosystem, dubbed Play, all housed within the BWW app.
End-to-end design
The first cab off the rank was Trivia. Pub trivia is a staple of Aussie culture, so we decided to take it to the U.S. But we had to make it official — i.e., no mobile phone cheaters! We spent three months in the planning phase, mapping and wireframing the initial concept: a centrally managed trivia game sent out to each of the restaurants.
Results
Customers could use their, errr, cell phones to answer questions displayed on the big screens within the venues. We created over 40 round types, ranging from sponsored rounds to themed ones (movies and sports, for example). Players would not only compete against others within their venue but could also team up to battle other restaurants and even other states.
